Application Implementation Philosophy

The IT Applications Division (Apps) implements software systems through the lens of good process management. Our goal is to provide business system solutions that help staff provide a positive customer service experience to our internal and external customers. We strive to create an eco-system that seamlessly works together, promotes cross department data and information sharing, while also keeping green goals in mind. Additionally, the internal business systems exchange information with our public facing services to promote ease of use, and foster a transparent exchange of information with the public.

Roles & Responsibilities 

The IT Applications division implements, installs, updates, supports and troubleshoots the majority of software applications at the City, with a particular focus on the Enterprise Business Systems which form the foundation of the flow of information between City departments and between staff and our constituents. The Enterprise Business Systems include; Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Point of Sale (POS), Business Process Management (BPM), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Budgeting, Human Resources and Payroll to name a few. Our goal is to ensure that these underlying “engines of service” run smoothly and that the level of innovation and software solutions keep pace with our customers’ expectations.

In addition, we build, maintain, and manage the City’s GIS database, and support staff who collect and edit GIS data in both the field and office.  We also recruit, coach, and support student volunteers who help the City with GIS data projects, which is a win-win for all.
