San Diego County Case Count: 1,761

Today, April 11, San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) reported 1,761 confirmed cases, with 34 cases among Encinitas residents.

Avoiding Crowding in Encinitas

The rain of last week has ended and returned us to the sunny Spring weather that makes Encinitas such a beautiful place. It is tempting to get out and enjoy our downtown and public walking areas along the 101. But when people across Encinitas think the same thing and head outside, these areas can get so crowded it is impossible to practice physical distancing. More crowding means that it is more likely that those areas will be shut down to enforce the public health orders and protect people from the spread of COVID-19. To keep access to these public locations open, please stay in your own neighborhood to explore the streets and areas around your home that you can reach by foot or bike.

Supporting Local Restaurants

Many restaurants across Encinitas have creatively adapted to the COVID-19 situation by devising ways to provide take-out, curbside pick-up, and delivery with minimal contact.

The City has made a list and map of Encinitas restaurants that are “Open for Business.” You can find the list here: https://encinitasca.gov/Business/COVID-19-Business-Resources/Open-For-Business. Also check out the website and/or Facebook pages of restaurants to learn more about their hours, revised menus, special deals, and new procedures during COVID-19. Many of them will take phone-in or online orders to reduce customer wait times.

When you go to the restaurant to pick up your food order, please make sure to maintain at least six feet between you and others who are also waiting in line. The local businesses are doing a fantastic job of complying with the public health orders and going above and beyond to implement hygiene measures, so let us help them keep their customers and employees safe by keeping our distance.

No Update Tomorrow

San Diego County will be providing limited COVID-19 updates tomorrow, April 12. The City of Encinitas will similarly not be releasing any new information tomorrow and will resume with these updates on Monday.

Please enjoy the day at home with your household and connect virtually with family and friends to avoid spreading COVID-19.
