  • The San Diego County Public Health Order to stay at home is still in effect. People may visit Encinitas beaches for solitary workouts. When you are on the beach, you must keep moving by walking or running. Please maintain a physical distance of six feet, do not gather in groups, and please go home once you are done exercising. You may swim, surf, and paddle board when in the water.
  • Moonlight Beach has the only open access to Encinitas beaches. The following locations are open while maintaining physical distancing:
    • Access and egress from B Street
    • Access and egress from 5th Street
    • Access and egress from C Street ramp
  • The following accesses are closed. There is no access to or from the beach:
    • Beacon’s Trail (closed due to unsafe conditions from recent rains)
    • D Street Staircase
    • Grandview Staircase
    • Sea Bluff Staircase (private property)
    • Stonesteps Staircase
    • Swami’s Staircase
    • Walkway is closed from Moonlight Beach upper parking lot down to the concession stand
  • For safety, the boundaries of the beach will be dictated by the tides. The beach may have temporary closures where the high tide will impact accessible areas along the beach; these temporary closures will be marked by black and white checkered flags.
  • The fire rings at Moonlight Beach are closed - no fires are permitted.
  • Moonlight Beach Parking Lot on C Street is closed.
  • All persons visiting the beaches in the City of Encinitas are to maintain social distancing. It is strongly recommended that you bring with you and wear a face covering while out in public.
  • All State beaches are closed (Ponto, Pipes, San Elijo, Cardiff Reef, Georges, and Seaside)
