The planned removal of stop signs at Marcheta Street and North Coast Highway 101 is scheduled to take place on April 30, 2021 as part of Leucadia Streetscape construction. This will improve long-term traffic flow on North Coast Highway 101. This stretch is currently experiencing delays due to the construction related traffic control shift in place now.
The stop sign removal is a planned element of ongoing Leucadia Streetscape roadway improvements on North Coast Highway that have been designed and approved by the City and City Council. When the 3-way stop is removed, those entering North Coast Highway 101 from Marcheta Street are encouraged to use an alternate route because making a left-hand turn from Marcheta Street onto North Coast Highway could be challenging. Electronic changeable message signs announcing the 3-way stop removal will be placed in advance on the north and south sides of North Coast Highway 101 and Marcheta Street. Please drive safely and share the lane with cyclists when traveling through the project area.
