Upcoming Street Closures: Basil Street, Athena Street, North Court and El Portal Street temporarily closed for improvements
The following streets intersecting at N. Coast Highway 101 will be temporarily closed one at a time for road improvements and reconstruction. Construction crews will be lowering the roads to match the elevations of the new N. Coast Highway 101 pavement. Access for businesses and residents will be maintained at all times during the work and temporary detour routes will be in place.
Basil Street – Closed from Wednesday, January 26th to Friday, January 28th
Athena Street – Closed from Monday, January 31st to Wednesday, February 2nd
North Court – Closed from Thursday, February 3rd to Friday, February 4th
El Portal Street – Closed from Monday, February 7th to Tuesday, February 15th
Please obey all construction signs in the area and travel safely and slowly through the construction zones. We thank you and the community for your cooperation and patience during construction.
Leucadia Streetscape Team continues west side Improvements from El Portal Street to Basil Street
The Leucadia Streetscape project team is continuing construction between El Portal Street and Basil Street. Construction in this segment is on schedule and is anticipated to be complete in approximately 2 months. New parking is available in the parking pods located on the east side of N. Coast Highway 101. Construction work includes demolition, grading, installation of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, asphalt pavement, street parking, underground utilities, street lighting, irrigation and landscaping.Once construction is completed on the sidewalks, project crews will shift to build the highly anticipated roundabout at the intersection of El Portal Street and N. Coast Highway 101. Phase 1 of the Leucadia Streetscape project is anticipated to be completed late Spring 2022.
Project Progress Update
The project team completed the installation of new decorative sidewalks from Marcheta Street to El Portal Street on the west side of N. Coast Highway 101 this month. The underground conduits have also been installed between El Portal Steet and Basil Street followed by the installation of new curbs and gutters. The team is also planting more trees and shrubs on the east side of the highway and within the new medians.
