On July 13, 2020, California Governor Newsom ordered the closure of certain businesses within Counties that have been placed on a monitoring list effective July 15.  San Diego County is one of 29 counties placed on the monitoring list as of Tuesday, July 14, 2020, due to the upward trend in the percentage of positive test results for COVID-19.  Per the Governor’s order, the County of San Diego Department of Public Health has updated its public health order to include the closure of the following businesses:

  • Dine-in restaurants (restaurants may continue operations on exterior spaces)
  • Wineries and tasting rooms
  • Movie theaters
  • Family entertainment centers (example: bowling alleys, miniature golf, batting cages, arcades, etc.).
  • Zoos and museums
  • Cardrooms
  • Hair salons and barbershops
  • Gyms and fitness centers
  • Personal care services such as nail salons, body waxing, and tattoo parlors
  • Places of worship
  • Offices for non-essential sectors
  • Indoor malls

If your business is affected by this health order update, please contact the Encinitas Development Services Department at (760) 633-2706, or by email to [email protected], to see if there are any potential options for you to modify your operation to continue servicing your customers.

Your actions matter.  Reducing our own exposure and the potential to expose others is key to reversing this trend and allowing businesses to reopen again.  This is achieved by staying at home whenever possible and by wearing a mask when you are in public and may come within six feet of another person who is not a member of your household.
