ENCINITAS, CA - We are excited to announce that beginning July 1, San Diego Humane Society will be the new animal service provider for residents of Encinitas. This change will bring expanded resources and services available to Encinitas residents and their pets, including:

  • Lost and found
  • Licensing
  • Increased adoption services, humane law enforcement and specialty programs like the Kitten Nursery, Behavior Center, PAWS San Diego and community outreach
  • Expanded service hours and coverage seven days a week

"We couldn't be more excited about extending our safety net to the City of Encinitas andwe look forward to working with our communities to provide great animal services," said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of San Diego Humane Society. "This is one of the biggest milestones for animal welfare in San Diego. With our new services, we'll be able to care for more animals as well as the people who care about them, which translate to more lives saved. Our expanded services will help keep animals with their families, which is where they belong."

"The City of Encinitas is looking forward to working with the San Diego Humane Society to offer the residents of our great City much needed animal services," said Jennifer Campbell, Director of Parks and Recreation. "We know how much pets mean to our residents."
