November 19

Enjoy a Saturday evening of visual art as Encinitas civic and local art galleries swing open their doors at Art Night Encinitas from 5:30-8:30pm--new hours for 2022. The event celebrates the city’s diverse visual art scene at participating locations and is free to the public. Enjoy live music and refreshments at several locations.

Art Night Encinitas was conceived by the Commission for the Arts to bring focus to the civic art spaces and thriving visual art scene in Encinitas. The bi-monthly art open house benefits artists through the sale of their art and provides the public an opportunity to interact with artists and learn about the creative process.

Visual Vocabulary Show Presented by Robin Rene & Rhea Ashcraft

Robin Burgin: Robin Rene resides in San Diego, CA. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2010 and has been painting and drawing since 2008. Her technique draws inspiration from the storytelling of Neoclassicism and the markings of abstract expressionism. Her current work is autobiographical and influenced by her contemplative practice of movement and the somatic experience.

Rhea Ashcraft: Self-taught, San Diego based painter born into a long-line of artists, Rhea is the pinnacle of creativity. Rhea's unique approach to the medium is based in abstract expressionism, a theoretical approach founded on the premise that an artist share their personality through spontaneity.

About the Art Show: Our collaboration and friendship has brought us here through the creative process, playing with colors, images, and techniques that are our own individual signature of expression. As creative be-ings, we are sharing with you our passion on to a selected surface. Our intention is to bring awareness to oneself through a visual media.

Cog•nate Collective Reception & Artist Talk + Art Night Encinitas

As part of Art Night Encinitas, we are thrilled to host Cog•nate Collective’s new exhibition in San Diego!

Cog•nate Collective’s interdisciplinary practice holds space for more inclusive forms of community as they explore trans-border territories that expand and contract with the movement of people and objects. In an ongoing body of work, the artists investigate the cultural production, circulation, and consumption that takes place in street markets and swap meets like the ones they grew up visiting on weekends with their families in Southern California and Baja California.

These spaces of exchange foster social connection and sustain ties to home-lands near and far for immigrant neighborhoods and working-class communities of color. In Tianquiztli: Portraits of the Market as Portal, the artists inhabit the poetic space that links contemporary marketplaces along the border and pre-Columbian markets in Mexico.

The Artist Talk will be followed by an Original Progressive House Set by local 16-year-old Producer/Artist Armaan Damani.

5:30 pm – 6:30 pm: Reception
6:30 pm – 7:30 pm: Artist talk
7:30 pm – 9:00 pm: Live DJ Set
