City Council awarded a construction contract in August 2024 and construction began in October 2024.  Construction completion is anticipated in late December 2024/early January 2025.   During construction, the parking lot will be closed 24/7.  Pedestrian access will be maintained.

BACKGROUND

The Beacon’s Beach Parking Lot project involves adjusting the existing parking lot so that it is out of the bluff failure plane.  Geotechnical investigations have determined a failure plane exists along the western parking spaces.  Shifting these parking spaces easterly and out of this bluff failure ensures residents can safely park and access Beacon’s Beach.  Parking lot improvements will include ADA compliant sidewalk and parking stalls along with the installation of additional bike racks for public use and the relocation of signage to maximize use of space while ensuring traffic visibility.  Space will also be accommodated for bikeshare docking stations.
