PROJECT STATUS

Construction on the project began in March 2024. The traffic signal poles and equipment have been installed for all intersections. The contractor is currently working to activate the new left turn protected/permissive operations with flashing yellow arrows. ADA curb ramp improvements are also underway as part of the project. The traffic signals are expected to be activated and the curb ramps constructed by early November.

The project consists of modifications and improvements to four traffic signals to add protected left turn phasing to the signalized intersections and will include the installation of new traffic signal poles, mast arms, equipment, and installation of ADA compliant pedestrian ramps at all four signalized intersections.

 The four traffic signal locations are the intersections of:

1. Encinitas Boulevard/Vulcan Ave.
2. Leucadia Boulevard/Vulcan Ave.
3. Santa Fe Drive/Scripps Hospital Driveway
4. Leucadia Boulevard/Quail Gardens Drive

The improvements will provide enhanced pedestrian and cyclist safety, mobility and accessibility.
