Saxony Rd & Quail Gardens Dr Mobility Enhancements Project

PROJECT STATUS
The project’s recommended improvements were taken to City Council in September 2023 and have been approved. The final design and cost estimation were approved by Council in January 2024. The project was advertised for construction bids in May 2024. Construction commenced in August 2024, with completion anticipated in the fall of 2024.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This project will implement new bicycle and pedestrian facilities along with traffic calming features along Saxony Road and Quail Gardens Drive between Encinitas Boulevard and Leucadia Boulevard.
Quail Gardens improvements include Striping modification, stop signs at intersection of Quail Gardens/Kristen Court and Quail Gardens/Via Zamia and a quick-build mini-roundabout at the intersection of Quail Gardens Drive and Ecke Ranch Road.
Saxony Road between Encinitas Blvd and Saxony Place improvements include striping modification, keeping parking lane on the west side of Saxony Road, adding bike lanes on both direction, signage, and installation of chicanes at northerly Paul Ecke Sports park. Saxony Road between Saxony Place and Ecke Ranch Road improvement adding buffered bike lane. Saxony Road north of Ecke Ranch Road to Leucadia Boulevard improvements include addition of sharrows, lane narrowing and signage.
This project supports the city’s Strategic Plan Vision for Mobility & Alternate Modes by providing safety and mobility enhancements to support a safe transportation network that encourages mode shift and empowers people to reach their destinations by active transportation and micro-mobility.
