PROJECT STATUS

Project design began in June 2018 and a CPP meeting was held in March of 2019.  The initial  project design was delayed due to numerous challenges with easements, utilities, and new private developments affecting trail alignment.  100% design is now being finalized and presentation to the Urban Forest Advisory Committee (UFAC) is expected in Fall 2024, followed by presentation to Planning Commission anticipated in spring 2025 

BACKGROUND

This project will incorporate existing trail elements along the east side of Rancho Santa Fe Road and provide a multiuse trail that connects Encinitas Boulevard to Camino Del Norte.

Trail 82 consists of a DG trail that runs 4,900 feet long. It will have a composite fence that runs the length of it on the traffic adjacent side.   

This project supports the Recreation, Community Planning and Environment focus areas of the City’s Strategic Plan by promoting active lifestyles and community health by furthering access to trails, parks, beaches, and other recreation opportunities; maintaining safe and livable communities through well-maintained infrastructure and facilities; and by being good stewards of open spaces, beaches, parks, and the natural environment.
