Music by the Sea: Iona Pay and Friends

French hornist Iona Pay performs across Southern California with groups such as the Santa Monica Symphony, Orchestra Santa Monica, the Southern California Brass Consortium, the New West Symphony, and the Coronado Philharmonic. She also performs in opera orchestras, chamber ensembles, and studio sessions in Los Angeles and San Diego. Passionate about brass chamber music, Iona attended the 2019 American Brass Quintet Seminar at the Aspen Music Festival, and the 2022 National Brass Ensemble Academy at SFCM. Iona has also been accepted to Domaine Forget De Charlevoix International Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, and The Orchestra Now. Iona co-founded the Los Angeles Brass Alliance, an ensemble for early-career brass musicians that will commission new works, collaborate with different musical communities, and bring engaging performances to the public with the ensemble. Committed to bringing classical music to a wider audience, she served as a Gluck Fellow musical ambassador while at UCLA and currently teaches with Harmony Project, a free music program for K-12 students in Los Angeles. Iona received her bachelor’s in Horn Performance from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, studying with Amy Sanchez, and simultaneously earned her bachelor’s in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. She is currently pursuing an on-the-ground education in arts entrepreneurship and performance from freelancing in Los Angeles, and studies with Associate Principal of the New York Philharmonic, Richard Deane.

Tickets for her performance can be purchased here.
