The Public Works Department consists of the following divisions:

Public Works Administration

The Public Works Administration Division provides management direction and administrative support to the Field Operations Division, the Cardiff Sanitary Division, the Encinitas Sanitary Division, and the San Dieguito Water District as well as direct supervision of Fleet Maintenance and Facility/Site Maintenance.

Street Maintenance Division

The Street Maintenance Division provides ongoing maintenance of the City’s right-of-way related infrastructure and above-ground storm water facilities. City crews maintain streets, shoulders, medians, sidewalks, curbs and gutters; install and replace signs; trim trees and shrubs; clean drainage channels, ditches, and inlets and outlets; and provide emergency response services.

Storm Drain Maintenance Division

The Storm Drain Maintenance Division provides maintenance and repair of the City’s storm water flood control basins, channels, ditches, pipes and storm drains.

Trash & Recycling

The City has an exclusive franchise agreement with EDCO Waste and Recycling Services to provide solid waste collection services in Encinitas for both residential and commercial customers.

Stormwater Management Division

The City's Clean Water Program serves to protect and enhance the quality of local surface waters, including our creeks, lagoons, and beaches along the Pacific Ocean, through the development and implementation of comprehensive stormwater pollution prevention activities.
