Engineering
The Engineering Department is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of major City infrastructure projects, Traffic Engineering and Land Development Engineering and Inspections. The department is comprised of three divisions: the Capital Improvement Program(CIP), Traffic Engineering and Land Development Engineering.
Capital Improvement Program
The CIP Division is responsible for the oversight of the City’s infrastructure program from new projects to major rehabilitation projects to continuing efforts, such as pavement management. The division works on the planning, budgeting and oversight of a portfolio of projects valued at up to $200 million. Land Development Engineering
The Land Development Engineering Division oversees various engineering permits and inspections related to grading, erosion control, street improvements, landscape, subdivisions, final map, parcel map, lot line adjustment, easements, right-of-way dedication and vacation, encroachment and removal agreements, haul route and utility permits, flood and storm water management.
The Land Development Division is responsible for maintaining and upholding the City’s Engineering Standards and Guidelines, Management Plans and Maps, to ensure projects and activities in the public right of-way meet all City zoning standards, plans, policies, ordinances, guidelines, and applicable local and state regulations.
Traffic Engineering
The Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for recommending and implementing policies and projects involving pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular traffic movement. The division plans, designs, and implements transportation improvements such as signing and striping, traffic control devices and other traffic related projects to provide safe and efficient travel across the city.
