MEP Trade Permit Application
Required when installing, altering or completing a change in a residential or non-residential structure.
Review the Fees & Information and Title 24 Energy Efficiency Documentation Determination guides to determine what items to submit when applying for your permit. Depending on the scope of work being done, there are different requirements.
If being installed by a contractor, the contractor must have an active City Business Registration.
Additional Information
- For HVAC Installations: Energy Compliance Forms will be required for all new or replacements of HVAC systems. Please refer to the Energy Efficiency Compliance guideline for further information.
- For Meter Panel Upgrades, Service Changes and installation of new equipment the following is required for submittal:
- Letter - SDGE Work Order
The following documentation is also required for panels that are ≥400 Amps
- Plans - Single Line Drawing
- Worksheet - Residential Circuit Card, Load Summary
- Panel Schedule
- MEP Permit documentation must be consistent with associated building permit requirements, if applicable. See Local Energy and Green Building Requirements.
Complete or gather the following forms and save to your computer or device. You will upload these items when you apply through CSS:
- Plans - Building (If unit is installed outdoors, i.e. air conditioner condenser)
- Plans - Single Line Drawing (If the project involves and electrical system)
- Specifications - Manufacturers Manual (If project is a new installation)
- Application - Supplemental
- Owner Authorization Affidavit
