Multimedia and Spatial Intelligence Mission

Enhancing public service with advanced multimedia and geospatial technologies through application development and engineering.

Geographic Information Systems

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is part of the Information Technology (IT) Multimedia and Spatial Intelligence division. GIS Staff are responsible for administering, creating, maintaining, and operating the City’s GIS data, which is integrated throughout the City's GIS-centric applications. Daily operations include supporting the City’s enterprise GIS-centric business applications; creating and maintaining GIS map applications for the public; maintaining data in the GIS database; leading data capture/conversion projects; creating customized maps and reports for staff; assisting with mailings for City project notifications; and providing digital data and maps to City contractors, consultants, and the public.

City Website

The Multimedia division of IT oversees the administration of the city website. In addition to administering the content management system software, Webmaster responsibility includes leading the staff content updater group, providing technical support documentation and training to content managers, coordinating design changes, quality control and accessibility.

Broadcast 

TV

 

 

 

Encinitas' local government access channel, MyEncinitasTV, runs 24 hours a day. With the channel running nonstop, maintenance for the channel includes updating video content, scheduling showtimes, keeping an archive of content, recording live public meetings, and ensuring the necessary hardware is maintained or replaced.

MyEncinitasTV is available on Channel 19 on Cox Communications, Channel 24 on Time Warner Cable (duplicate coverage on Channel 128 has been discontinued), and Channel 99 on AT&T U-Verse.

Meeting Support

The IT Multimedia team supports all public meetings including City Council, Planning, Environmental, Art, Youth, Parks & Recreation, Traffic & Public Safety, and Senior Commissions. This includes coordinating appropriate software and hardware for successful broadcasts, as well as technical support for staff onsite.
