Quail Gardens Drive Mobility Enhancements
The sidewalk and ramp work at all corners of the Quail Gardens Drive & Ecke Ranch Road intersection has been completed. The contractor is finishing some minor asphalt work in the median areas, and the construction of the roundabout will begin as soon as the necessary materials arrive.
Speed Feedback Sign Installation
Temporary speed feedback signs have been installed on Orpheus and South Willowspring.
Left Turn Signal Improvement Project
The new protected-permissive left turn operations with flashing yellow arrows have been activated at the intersection of Santa Fe Dr/Scripps Hospital. The contractor currently has Encinitas Blvd/Vulcan Ave as the next intersection to be activated, to be followed by Leucadia Blvd/Vulcan Ave.
The Traffic Engineering Division plans and manages projects to improve safety and mobility for all modes of transportation. The division plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation infrastructure, and in planning for future transportation needs. Primary responsibilities of the division include:
- Designing, installing, and operating traffic signals to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow
- Identifying and implementing safety improvements such as traffic calming measures and pedestrian crossings
- Improving pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, including crosswalks and bike lanes
- Designing and maintaining roadways, including pavement markings and signage
- Collecting and analyzing data on traffic volume, speed, and other factors
- Reviewing traffic control plans for construction projects
- Traffic Impact Analysis reviews associated with development projects
