The City has an exclusive franchise agreement with EDCO Waste and Recycling Services to provide solid waste collection services in Encinitas for both residential and commercial customers. EDCO is the only authorized company that can haul solid waste in the City of Encinitas. Rates are set by City Council. View the City’s Franchise Agreement with EDCO.

Residential

EDCO provides residents with three types of roll-out carts: blue for recycling, green for yard and organic waste, and gray for landfill, available in 35- and 95-gallon sizes. Since Summer 2021, food scraps can be added to the green bin as part of California’s SB1383 mandate for organics recycling.

Commercial
