Under SB 1383, Encinitas requires certain food-generating businesses to reduce edible food waste by establishing donation agreements with charitable organizations, with annual inspections to ensure compliance with local and state regulations.

By redirecting surplus food to those in need, we not only reduce harmful emissions but also support local families and individuals facing food insecurity. Food donation is a simple but impactful way for businesses and individuals alike to make a difference for both people and the planet.
